In a new study from the EY Item Club, the UK could suffer significantly from Brexit. Consumer spending, investment, and imports could decrease in response to fluctuating Brexit news. Uncertainty could lead to the worst year for the UK economy since the 2008 crash, down 1.5% from last year.

I think your fears are valid and entirely justified. However, any transitory movement between institutions of governance require a certain degree of collateral damage. Do you think these damages are permanent, or can the UK come out stronger in the end?
