The irony of googling England's national dish

When you google England’s national dish, “chicken tikka masala” appears as the top answer on the screen.  The first source is Wikipedia, describing it as ‘the most popular’ in England, but most importantly, as representing ‘the perfect illustration of the way Britain absorbs and adapts external influences.’

Accordingly, in a country where 4 in 10 adults agree that “having a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures has undermined British culture,” (The Guardian) Brexit goes against the idea of an inclusive society by inevitably destroying the UK’s, and especially London’s multiculturalism.

However, a socially cohesive society is just as important as an economically stable and sustainable one.  Thus, Brexit could entail the loss of identity for many ethnic minorities by allowing an anti-immigrant sentiment to dominate society and its policies.
